Obituary

Frederick K. DeShon of Medway, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025.

Fred was born on February 26, 1936 and was the beloved only child of Charlotte and Orlando DeShon from Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. He is predeceased by the love of his life, Patricia J DeShon. He is survived by his daughter, Cathie York and husband Vincent Crawford of Peaks Island, Maine and his son Daniel DeShon of Medway. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Ashley York and fiancé Cody Mcallister of Auburn, Maine and leaves behind his great grandchildren, Liam, Brynlee, Jaxen, and Finn all of Auburn Maine, and his special grand-dog Jax.

Fred touched the lives of many with his great sense of humor, creativity, curiosity, loyalty, and the innate ability to just be the “real deal.” Fred was a wonderful coach to anyone who listened on how to fix all things the right way, also known as “Fred’s Way.” He leaves us all with an important life survival tip of some sort.

Fred was a hard-working man and spent his career life as a proud heavy equipment operator and was always excited to share his many stories of his life on the big rigs.

Throughout his life, Fred was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and taught boating safety classes for many years. He was also an avid camper, boater, reader, and master cribbage player.

Fred spent his retirement years on Peaks Island, Maine boating around Casco Bay in his boat, “the Gofer” with his first mate, Pat. He often recalled these years, the best years of his life.

A gathering to honor and celebrate Fred’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 12 noon to 2 PM at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway ginleyfuneralhomes.com followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
