Obituary

Dorothy Ann Lueneburg transitioned from this life into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus on Tuesday July 8th 2025 with her family and friends by her side.

Dorothy was born on September 10th 1944 to Benjamin and Mae Burdick in the town of Stonington CT.

As a teen she worked at Ella's Bakery in Mystic. She enjoyed horseback riding and hanging out on the farm with her dad. She was a sun lover, always laying out in the summer. Her niece Sandie recalls the long walks from Hewitt road to the beach just over the hill, and rehearsing a song that Dorothy was going to sing in a beauty pageant. Her last few months she loved spending time going on drives with her son to the fishery in Dunes Corner. She enjoyed her scallops and calamari. She also loved bragging about how beautiful her granddaughters were and the long phone calls with her grandson, they became the best of friends with what she called a strong bond they created.

She is pre deceased by brother Vernon Burdick and sister Carolyn Edwards.

She leaves behind her sister Eleanor Muller of Pawcatuck, daughter Kailey and husband Jack Phillips. Her son Jeffrey Hartley and wife Heather Hartley, her beloved grandchildren: Kamaira Phillips, Jared Hartley and Haley Hartley. She also leaves behind her cat Sheeba who she rescued, many nieces, nephews and cousins. We also want to recognize her friends who were always there for her even till her last breath, Jerilyn, Amelia and Raul. You all brought Dorothy happiness and joy.

Dorothy could light up any room with her infectious smile and warm blessings to everyone she came in contact with. The world has lost a pure compassionate soul.
