Carol E. Zwicker, 80

Dateline: Norton, MA

Carol E. (O’Leary) Zwicker, age 80, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl W. Zwicker, who passed away in 1969.

Born in Boston, MA on June 4, 1945, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis and Evelyn (Marcum) O’Leary.

Carol grew up in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston and was a graduate of Saint Joseph Academy in Roxbury. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Zwicker had been employed for the telephone company. She began her career in 1996 with Nynex and retired in 2010 when the company operated under the name of Verizon. Carol also served as a former substitute teacher for Norton Public Schools.

A member of the Norton community for over fifty years, Carol loved raising her sons, spending time with her family and friends and her devout faith as a Catholic. She was an active communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton where she enjoyed volunteering her assistance at Friday Night Bingo and at the annual Christmas Bazaar.

Carol formerly served on the Norton Water Body Committee and while her sons were growing up, as a Den Mother for Pack 18 in Norton. She enjoyed gardening, teaching ceramic class and cake decorating. Carol will always be remembered for her delicious brownies, her creative gift giving and at the time of her death, was anticipating the birth of her fourth great grandchild.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Russell M. Zwicker and his wife Dawn of Billerica, David L. Zwicker of Block Island, Rhode Island and his former wife Louise of Virginia and the late Michael F. Zwicker, who is survived by his former wife Lisa of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Jackie, Nicole, Troy, Katherine, Skye and the adoring great grandmother of Isla, Brielle and CJ. She was the dear sister of Margaret “Peggy” Smith of Walpole and her late husband Richard, Janice Eckmann and her husband Charles of Georgia and the Francis “Butch” O’Leary, who is survived by his wife Geri of Westwood, Patricia MacEachern, who is survived her husband Charles of Westwood and Michael O’Leary and his late wife Edna. She is also survived by her much-loved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 16th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Her funeral will begin from the funeral home on Thursday, July 17th at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.
