Paxton – Ellen (Athanas) Bardhi Brown, 102, of Paxton and Pompano Beach, FL passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence after a period of declining health.
Ellen is survived by her son, Peter Bardhi and his wife, Susan of Worcester and Pompano Beach, FL and her son and caretaker, Kenneth Bardhi of Paxton. Ellen was born in Worcester in 1923, daughter of the late, Kosta and Anastasia Athanas. But grew up in Southbridge. She was predeceased by her sisters, Emelia Thamel, Ann Mitro, Bessie Spiro and Mary Macewicz and a brother, James Athanas.
Ellen was a hard worker and worked two jobs (one at Worcester City Hospital and at Swiss Precision ) for many years allowing her to retire to Florida where she made many new friends and enjoyed having her sisters, Ann and Emelia nearby.
Ellen had many hobbies over her long-life span but baking was her favorite. Her baklava was loved by anyone who had the pleasure to taste it. She also enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods casino as a fun diversion. One other fun thing Ellen did each day was the Jumble Word puzzle even at 102!
A Celebration of Ellen's life will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 11 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. Burial will immediately follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions in memory of Ellen may be made to the American heart Association 93 Worcester Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.
