Obituary

Limington –Tony Earl Erickson, age 73, passed away on July 8, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Affectionately known as ToteRoad—his CB handle from the decade before cell phones—Tony was a man of humor, grit, and heart.
Born in Portland, Maine, on May 20, 1952, he was the eldest son of Earl and Shirley (Miner) Erickson.
Tony proudly volunteered to serve his country as a radio operator and mechanic during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, he worked at Windham Welding before continuing his career at W.A. Messer as a welder and fabricator. Known for his quick wit, he often joked that he could weld anything—even a broken heart—if only he had a blood rod.
Tony married Darlene in 1981, and together they built not only a home but a life full of shared laughter, hard work, adventure, and more laughter. Their marriage was a true partnership in every sense—grounded in love, strengthened by all they created side by side, and marked by the kind of bond that only deep friendship and time can build.
Tony had a deep love for the outdoors. He eagerly welcomed each season for the adventures it brought—fishing, kayaking, hunting, or simply being in nature. In his earlier years, he rode his Harley every summer, and in later years, he proudly logged over a thousand miles on his electric bike. One of his last and most memorable “catches” was a scrawny gray kitten found by the water’s edge, which he gently scooped up with a fishing net and brought home, naming her River.
He loved seeing his children and family come to visit, and he always had time to lend a hand—whether it was fixing a car, building a house, skinning a deer, or whatever you were trying to do. If you needed him, he was there.
When not outside, Tony could be found in his beloved man cave—the basement of the home he and his wife built together. It was a favorite gathering spot for many friends to drop in over the years—for a game of pool, a round of Wii golf, some karaoke, or just good conversation.
Tony was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Rex Erickson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Erickson of Limington; two sons, Tony J. Erickson and his wife, Jessica, of Gray, and Gregg E. Erickson and his wife, Lindsey, of Hiram. He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy. He is also survived by a sister, Deb, and her husband, David Perry, of Buxton; a sister, Julie, and her husband, Ronald Harmon, of Gorham; and a brother, Chris Erickson, and his wife, Kirsten, also of Gorham.
A graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery on Church Hill Road in Buxton, Maine, and a celebration of life is being planned. Dates for both will be announced at a later time.
