Janos “John” or “Opa” Kozma, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Kozma was born on July 11, 1938, in Gyor-Sentivian, Hungary, the son of the late Janos & Erzsebet Foldvari Kozma. He led a very interesting life, beginning in Hungary in 1938. In 1956, at the age of 17, he escaped Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution. He later joined the US Army in Italy. Mr. Kozma met his wife Annelotte while stationed in Germany. Later, they transferred to the United States and put down roots in Massachusetts. John began his work in the plastics field with various laboratory positions where he learned color matching and formulating.
Mr. Kozma’s entrepreneurial spirit guided him to start his own business, which later became Modern Dispersions, Inc. His commitment to quality and customer service allowed his business to prosper. Today, his company continues to grow under the same values and principles that he believed in. Modern Dispersions, Inc. and Modern Dispersions South, Inc. are widely respected in the plastics industry. For over 57 years, the company has been producing quality plastic concentrates and compounds to serve many markets around the globe.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Annelotte Kozma of Ashburnham, MA; children and their spouses: Janos A. & Jean Kozma, Monika Kozma, Marton & Hope Kozma, and Gabor & Iryna Kozma; grandchildren: Janos F. & Jessica Kozma, Daniel J. Kozma, Alexis Kozma, Michael & Leanne Belcher, Marisa Curry, Christian & Kathryn Kozma, Connor Kozma, Cameron & Sarah Kozma, Sarah Grace Kozma, Alex Kozma, and Karina Kozma; and great-grandchildren: Michael Belcher, Brooke Belcher, Isla Curry, Owen Curry, Emmi Curry, Noah Brannen, Lincoln Kozma, and Nora Kozma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Erzsebet Godor.
