LUDLOW – Raymond N. Bayeur, 83, of Keystone Commons in Ludlow, previously of the Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown and a former longtime resident of Sullivan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, July 7, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Mont Marie Health Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on October 26, 1941, a beloved son of the late Real W. and Rita M. (Briere) Bayeur. He was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield and moved to Sullivan Street in Aldenville in 1963 before moving to Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown in 2002. He moved to Keystone Commons in Ludlow where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Electrician’s Mate Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was a Letter Carrier for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service in Chicopee and retired in 1997. He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. He and his late wife, Jane enjoyed wintering in Venice, Florida and loved to play cards with family and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Mary Jane (Forest) Bayeur who was Called Home on May 8, 2021. They were married on October 5, 1963 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. He leaves his three loving children, Christine M. Bayeur, David J. Bayeur of Chicopee, and Donna M. Atwood and her husband, Craig, of Hickory, NC; his five cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Katherine and Erik Bayeur, and Sarah and Ethan Atwood; his dear sister, Helen Teerlinck and her husband, Robert, of Columbia, MO; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Matthew Bayeur, who was Called Home on February 5, 2000; his dear brother-in-law, Rolland “Maurice” Forest who was Called Home on May 6, 1990. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
