Obituary

Harold P. “Pete” Stalker, age 87, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

He was the beloved husband of Mildred L. (Vieira) Stalker, who passed away September 29, 2024.

Born in Lowell on January 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Joshua Stalker and the late Helen (Cook) Stalker.

Pete attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1956. During his high school years, he was an accomplished athlete and member of the Tewksbury Redmen Baseball Team.

In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Transportation Battalion. He was awarded the Marksman Badge and the Sharpshooter Badge for his active-duty service.

Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he worked as a union bricklayer. In 1979, he founded the West Tewksbury landmark, Pete’s Variety & Package Store, located on Woburn Street, which he operated for over 35 years until his retirement.

Pete enjoyed golfing with his son, mountain biking, and coaching the “Blue Jays” in the Tewksbury Little League Baseball Program, and was an avid Boston Bruins fan. In addition, he along with the late William “Buddy” Doherty, founded the T-Shirt Division for the Tewksbury Youth Little League Program, which taught young players the fundamentals of baseball.

He is survived by two children, his son, Michael H. Stalker and his daughter, Shelly M. Stalker, both of Tewksbury: two granddaughters, Elizabeth Stalker, of Nashua, NH, and Sarah Stalker, of Bedford, NH.
Pete was the brother of the late Dexter C. Stalker and his surviving wife, Dolores T. “Dolly” Stalker, of Tewksbury.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 14th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Prayer service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Services will conclude with interment of his ashes at Lowell Cemetery, 77 Knapp Avenue, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Tewksbury Youth Baseball, 90 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
