Carlton Richard Roy Sr., age 68, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2025. He was born on December 19, 1956 in Springfield, son of the late Richard C. Roy and Evelyn F. (Pelchar) Roy. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Maryann (Pouliot) Roy of Granby; two sons, Carlton R. Roy Jr and his wife Kate Deady Roy of Ludlow and Keith L. Roy and his wife Angela Roy of Westfield; one daughter, Gennifer V. Roy of Holyoke; one sister, Susan Benoit of Chicopee; his father-in-law Lawrence “Larry” Pouliot of Chicopee; three grandchildren, Jaxson, Lawrence and Maria and one more grandchild on the way. He also leaves his best friend who was a brother to him, Keith Walas and his wife Dianne of Granby. He was such a gift in the lives of his nieces and nephews, Jesse and Zachary Benoit, Brooke Moreau, Amber and Cameron Szczygiel, Jason and Jeremy Ferriera, Konner Costello and Nicholas and Katelyn Walas. He is predeceased by his mother-in-law Constance Pouliot. He also leaves many extended family members and friends who will miss and love him dearly. He was a natural mentor to all who were blessed to know him, and famously known for giving the best hugs. Carl worked as the maintenance director for the Hampshire Athletic Club. He was a beloved long-time coach and Director of the former Granby Athletic Association. Through those efforts and his caring heart, he helped to raise an entire generation of Granby kids. He was the former co-owner of KC Pools along with his best friend Keith Walas for many years. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Memorial Service will be held from 8:30 - 9:30 AM with a Prayer Service to start at 9:30 AM on Saturday, July 12th in LifePoint Church, 603 New Ludlow Rd., Chicopee.
