Obituary

Scott Eugene Young, of Falmouth, MA, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. He was 64 years old.

Scott was born on April 25, 1961, at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda. He spent four years in Arizona before moving to Cape Cod, where he grew up and built many lasting friendships. After a decade in Florida, Scott returned to the Cape last year to be with his family during his illness.

He is predeceased by his mother, Donna L. Young-Broadribb; his stepfather, James Broadribb; his granddaughter, Lucy Weisel; and his friend and caregiver, Jim McGuire, who played a key role in Scott’s final chapter.

Scott is survived by his three loving children: Christopher Young, Sr., Sarah Sattin and her husband Ben, and Bethany Weisel and her husband Jeff. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Christopher, Landon, Riley, Logan, Jack, and Madeline. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Bob Doria; his niece Lindsay Maddock; his brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Sandy Young; and his step-siblings, Steph and Will Broadribb.

Scott spent his adult life working in the car business, where he earned a reputation for being dependable, kind, and steady. He rarely missed a day of work—even during cancer treatment—and continued working until he physically couldn’t anymore. Everyone who knew him respected and liked him.

He had a deep love of travel, especially long weekend tropical cruises. He was a lifelong car enthusiast—known for his cars from high school to his bright red Corvette in recent years. Scott loved golfing, often playing in leagues and winning tournaments, and had a passion for boating and motorcycling. He spent countless summer days pulling his kids and their friends on tubes behind his boat, always aiming for the biggest waves.

In high school, he ran track and took up pole vaulting—an early sign of the drive and fearlessness that defined his life.

Scott's final year was shaped by the love and care of those closest to him. His former-wife, or as he preferred to call her “the mother of my children” Leslie McGuire, and her husband Jim opened their home to Scott and became his daily caregivers, along with his children. Even after unexpectedly losing Jim just three months before Scott’s passing, Leslie continued to care for him with extraordinary grace, love, and compassion. Her support was a gift that allowed Scott to remain at home and surrounded by those who loved him most.

Scott will be deeply missed for his strength, his sense of humor, his love of adventure, and the unwavering loyalty he showed to those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at 25 Mares Pond Drive in Falmouth, MA for anyone who would like to pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s name to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, whose care and research made a meaningful difference in his final year.
