Obituary

SURPRISE, AZ ---- Marjorie Anne Brown, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Surprise, Arizona, after nearly three months of a courageous and grace-filled fight. Her strong faith and deep love for her family carried her to the very end, and she is now home with Jesus.

Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, on May 27, 1939, Anne was the daughter of Marjorie Ashton Pearce and William Badlam Pearce. She grew up alongside her sisters Carol Fuller-Grimes and Elizabeth "Betsy" Jackson.

Anne was the "It" girl at Sharon High School-class secretary, a cheerleader, basketball and softball star, and crowned prom queen alongside her future husband, Bruce. She attended Westbrook College and later worked as the administrative assistant in Bruce's counseling office.

But her true calling was in how she loved-fiercely, fully, and with an unwavering kindness. Whether it was cheering for her grandkids, offering wise advice over coffee, or making a home filled with warmth and welcome, she led with heart.

She married Owen Bruce Brown and shared a beautiful life with him until his passing in 2007. In 2009, she found love again and shared the rest of her life with David Lockwood, who survives her.

She was the proud mother of Scott Brown, Laurie Haines and Deborah Brown, and was preceded in death by her beloved son Gary Brown (1966-1988). She was lovingly known as Grammie to her seven grandchildren, Beth, Ryan, Aimee, Aaron, Angel, Garrett and Ashley and her four great-grandchildren, Ben, Rosa, Emma and Ellinor.

She extended that same love and kindness to David's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well, embracing them as part of her family.

Anne became "Mom" and "Grammie" not just to her own children and grandchildren, but to countless friends of theirs over the years. Whether someone needed a meal, a place to stay, a second chance, or simply someone to believe in them-Anne opened her heart and home with no hesitation. Her quiet strength and gentle care left a lasting imprint on many lives.

Her faith in Jesus was steady and sure, and she lived her life in light of His promises. She especially cherished the words of Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." She believed in hope. She chose kindness. She poured herself into others. And she never let a morning pass without her Dunkin'. As her beloved Bruce said in his final words and as Anne lovingly reminded us ever since, "Be kind to each other."
