Margaret M. "Peg" (Fogerty) King, 81, of Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at home. She was wife of the late Donald King.
Born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late John and Monica (Sullivan) Fogerty, she had lived in Dartmouth for most of her life. A graduate of Hope High School, she received her Associate's Degree as Executive Secretary from Johnson and Wales University. Introduced to the love of her life by Dartmouth Selectman Robert Carney, she and Donald were married on June 21, 1969 and welcomed their pride and joy, Alan Christopher, one year later. Peg began her career in the clerical field by working in all the schools in Dartmouth, except for the Alternative School, as well as in the Superintendent's office. Prior to retirement, she was a medical transcriptionist for Hawthorn Medical Associates, ending her career as the department head for 9 years. She was a town meeting member. She was a member of the Greater New Bedford Choral Society for many years serving as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president and also served as treasurer of Allen's Pond Association for many years. Mrs. King volunteered at Dartmouth Town Hall in the Building Department. When Don's garden began to produce vegetables, Peg canned tomatoes, made marinara sauce, squash bonne femme, zucchini bread as well as corn relish. She knitted and crocheted many afghans, children's hats, booties, scarves and lap blankets for friends, family and as gifts for the homeless, residents in nursing homes and newborns at St. Luke's Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law: Lisa King of Dartmouth; a nephew: Ted Malley of N. Kingstown, RI and several other nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Alan King and sister of the late John E. Fogerty, Jr., William J. Fogerty, Paul J. Fogerty and Patricia J. Malley.
