Rev. Steve Freeman, 66 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his residence.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Rev. Freeman was born October 19, 1958, in Clayton County, Georgia, to the late David & Marie Arps Freeman. He was a master carpenter and a forensic computer analysist who also enjoyed fishing. He was licensed to preach at the age of 14 and started his ministry at 15. He enjoyed studying the Word of God, witnessing and evangelizing. Rev. Freeman and his wife pastored many churches through transitions in ministry. He was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God and credentialed through the South Georgia Conference.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Valerie Jones Freeman of Fitzgerald; his children: Micah Freeman & Beth of Dawsonville, Matthew Freeman & Katherine of Woodstock, Daniel Freeman of Canton, Ohio, Stephen Freeman & Katie Bowser of Tunnel Hill and Anna Kennison & Paul Tessmann of Canton; ten grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Freeman of Ellenwood and Diane & Bobby Drake of McDonough; two brothers: Ricky Freeman of McDonough and Wayne Freeman of Black Mountain, North Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Donna Freeman of Flowery Branch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shaunell Freeman and a brother Tommy Freeman.
