Standish - Nancy Elizabeth (Lowe) Harris, age 82, passed peacefully at her home on June 16, 2025.
She was born 1-9-43 to the late Edmund and Dorothy (Dunsmoor) Lowe of Falmouth, where she attended school and graduated in 1961.
She then married William A. Harris, and they had three daughters, Judith, Kelley, and Deborah.
Nancy and her husband; William, founded and operated Harris Trucking for many years before retiring. After retiring they enjoyed some traveling in the United Sates. Nancy cherished spending time with Bill, family and friends; at the Lowe family reunion every year, at their Granger Pond camp in Denmark, and enjoying time on the ocean on their lobster boat Pleasure Palace. The family had many pets while the girls were growing up, but later in life, Nancy and Bill especially loved the two goats Christopher and Elizabeth. They both believed in being very patriotic, voting every time! Friends, business associates, and even new acquaintances were treated like family.
Nancy maintained many life-long friendships and also enjoyed day trips and trying new foods with MaryAnn Cumming, who was like a sister.
She liked working with her hands; knitting, crocheting, sewing, or being outdoors, working hard every year to keep her flowers/plants growing and blooming while enjoying a nice sunny day.
Nancy's faith was very important to her even to the very end and she enjoyed visits from Chaplain Tim from hospice and talking about her life and faith with him. She passed away very peacefully once Pastor Tony Vafiades stopped by and prayed with her that day.
Bill loved telling stories, and you could never tell what part might be true! Bill enjoyed sharing a good joke, especially with his brother David.
He also had many life-long friends; Al (Frenchie) Martel who taught Bill to drive trucks, then later worked for Harris Trucking and Joe Cerney (Jack of all trades) who did many projects, and visited frequently.
Nancy and Bill are survived by their three daughters, Judith and husband Howard Turner, Kelley and husband Brian Robinson, and Deborah Harris, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and extended family. Nancy is also survived by her brother, Richard Lowe and wife Marilyn, and brother, Phillip Lowe and wife Claudia. William is survived by his brother, David Harris, sister, Marlene (Migs) (Harris) Eaton and husband Jim Schmidt, and sister-in-law Nancy L. Harris.
Nancy was predeceased by William Harris of Standish. They both were predeceased by her parents Edmund and Dorothy (Dunsmoor) Lowe of Falmouth and his parents Winslow (Skipper) Harris of Yarmouth and Ruby (Bryant) Harris of Westbrook, also, Bill's brother, Richard Harris, sister Marjorie (Harris) Holste, and sister-in-law, Jean (Hillier) Harris.
A special Thank You to Hospice of Southern Maine team from Nancy and family especially Jerry, Lynn, Heather, Chaplain Tim. Thank you to Nancy's daily helpers Debbie, Linda, Becky, and Marilyn, who Nancy referred to as "Nancy's Angels". Thank you all so much! Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.
