HALL, Leona M. (Masterson) — A longtime resident of Needham, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis X. (Frank) Hall, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Devoted mother of Matthew F. Hall of Washington, D.C., Mary B. Hall and her husband Chris Swan of Needham, and Jane E. Hall of Norfolk, MA. Cherished grandmother of Caitlin, Sarah, Daniel, Mark, and Kyle. Loving sister of the late Francis and Ronald Masterson. She is also survived by several dear nieces and nephews.
Leona was born and raised in North Bergen, New Jersey, where she met Frank before beginning their life together. She worked at the Burlington Company in New York City prior to her marriage. Together, they lived in New Jersey and Maryland before settling in Needham in 1970.
Leona dedicated herself to raising her children and took immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. A woman of quiet generosity and strong faith, she gave back to her community by volunteering for many years at Glover Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess) and at St. Bartholomew Parish. She enjoyed ceramics, quilting, tap dancing, playing the piano and traveling.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 6, from 4–7 PM at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 7, at 9 AM in St. Susanna’s Church, 262 Needham St., Dedham. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
