TILTON ---- Mark Richard Phelps, 68, returned to God on Monday, June 23, 2025 after a period of declining health.
He was born July 28, 1956, in Massachusetts to Richard Earle Phelps and Joan (O’Mara) Boehm.
Mark graduated from Central High School in Manchester and joined the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1979. In addition to an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, Mark had certificates in General Auto Repair and Gun Smithing.
Phelpsy, as he was known by some, had a soft heart and loved people, especially his family and friends. He would help anyone in need. He also had a deep love for animals. Mark delighted people with his wonderful cooking and brought many dishes back from his travels in Korea with the Army. Mark was an avid gun enthusiast, a hobby he shared with his sons. For many years he shot targets on a regular basis and reloaded his own ammunition. Mark was also involved with CB radios and for many years had one with him wherever he went. One of Mark’s favorite places was the forests of New Hampshire. He was happiest camping and hiking, especially with his boys.
Mark is survived by sons Benjamin (Chelsea) of Medford, MA, Ian, of Keene, NH, and Aaron, of Durango, CO, his mother Joan Boehm, of Ocala, FL, his step-mother Gail Laker-Phelps of Epsom, NH, granddaughters Evelyn and Natalie Phelps, sisters Lisa Phelps (Doug Montgomery), of Barnstead, NH, Brenda Major, of Ocala, FL, his best friend, Bruce and his beloved Maine Coon cat, Boone. He was predeceased by his father, Richard.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date.
