Obituary

Paul Frederick Kelly, 76, of Lowell, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Efthalia “Lita” (Fleri) Kelly, with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage until her passing in 2021.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on June 30, 1948, he was the son of the late Frederick Kelly and the late Anna (Feran) Kelly. Paul was educated in Saint John, where he also completed art school before moving to the United States with his family in the 1960s. They settled in Tewksbury and later made their home in Lowell.

Paul dedicated over four decades to his career as a driving instructor, teaching more than 30,000 students how to drive between 1975 and 2013. He worked primarily at Chelmsford Auto School, as well as other driving schools in the Lowell area. His calm demeanor, patience, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on generations of drivers.

Outside of work, Paul had a lifelong love for automobiles, especially classic cars. He enjoyed collecting model cars and was a devoted fan of The Three Stooges, finding joy in their timeless comedy.

He is survived by his son, Philip A. Kelly of Lowell, and his sister, Cathy Kelly Chandler of Hampton, NH. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him with love and fondness.

Paul was predeceased by his brother, Michael Kelly.
