Agatha Piper

Agatha (MacMaster) Piper, age 97, recently of Woburn, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, on the day of her 97th birthday, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading with family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Clifford M. Piper, who passed away on January 5, 2011.
Born on June 29, 1928 in New Waterford, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was one of fourteen children of the late Duncan R. MacMaster and the late Mary (Currie) MacMaster.
She was raised on Cape Breton Island. She attended local schools and later graduated from Nursing school in Canada.
In 1951, she moved to Blue Hill, Maine and settled in Tewksbury in 1953, where she raised her family.
During her nursing career, she worked at the Blue Hill Hospital in Maine, the Winchester Hospital, former St. John’s Hospital in Lowell (Lowell General Saints Campus) as well as Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Agatha enjoyed traveling, baking, cooking, knitting, and sewing.
Family members include her children, Brenda M. Piper and her husband Bradford Ralphes, of Middleton, Denise L. Gundrum and her husband Edwin, of Andover, Eric D. Piper, of Lynnfield, Fern Boeglin and her husband Eugene, of Lexington, Wendy Convery and her husband Bob, of Hudson, NH, and the late Garrett J. Piper: her grandchildren, Morgan M. Gundrum, Erica Piper Friedman, Lynne Smith, Jarrett and Connor Boeglin, and Katie and Alan Piper: great grandchildren, Piper, Emme, and Garrett.
She was the sister of the late Carolee Yorke, Edith Ann Calder, Gordon MacMaster, Erwin MacMaster, Alonzo “Lonnie” MacMaster, Elmer MacMaster, Carl MacMaster, Dr. Russell MacMaster, Dr. Duncan MacMaster, Katherine McIsaac, Laura McLean, Jean Cooke, and Mary “Petch” MacMaster.
She leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
All are welcome to her memorial service to be held on Monday, July 7th, at 11 a.m. in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment of her ashes at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
