Obituary

Constance “Connie” Fleury passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, in Agawam, surrounded by love with her daughter Pamela and granddaughters Dawn and Laura by her side. She was 95 years young and still as strong-willed and sharp as ever. While Connie had always requested a short obituary, her granddaughters Dawn & Laura felt it simply wouldn’t do justice to the incredible life she lived, so this is for you Gram...

Born in Holyoke, Connie grew up to be a woman of resilience, grace, and strength. She attended Chicopee High School followed by Annhurst College. It was in High School where she met the love of her life, Ronald Fleury, the two were married in 1950 and spent an incredible 75 years together, a love story for the ages.

Together, they built a life in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, raising four daughters and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the scent of something always cooking on the stove. Connie was a woman ahead of her time, a true “Jane” of all trades who somehow managed to do it all. She worked nights, kept a spotless home, sewed clothes from rags, cooked meals from scratch, and raised a family with care and pride.

Connie’s life was built around simple joys and meaningful moments. As grandchildren, we enjoyed summers by the pool, shopping trips to Bradlees, Caldor, Ocean State Job Lot, and Dollar Tree, and lunchtime adventures that often involved sampling every offering at Costco (where, naturally, she knew all the sample ladies by name.) She loved Wheel of Fortune, Supermarket Sweep, Lifetime movies, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku, always keeping her mind just as sharp as her wit. She gave her family wisdom, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Grandma also took great pride in her beloved “Mother’s Club,” a close-knit group of lifelong friends, Dottie, Yvette, Jennie, and Connie, who shared more than five decades of friendship. These ladies gathered often to play cards, enjoy lunch, and, most importantly, exchange stories, laughter, and a little gossip about anything and everything. Their bond was unbreakable, and their friendship brought her immense joy throughout her life. Though Jennie and Connie have since passed, Dottie and Yvette remained by her side until the very end, a true testament to the enduring power of friendship.

Even in her final days, Connie’s wit and spunk never left her. One moment that perfectly captured her spirit came when Laura leaned in and said, “Hi Gram, it’s me, your favorite grandchild!” Without missing a beat, Connie replied, “Dawn, is that you?” As the room burst into laughter, she followed up with, “Laura, I know it’s you... I’m not stupid!” It was the perfect send-off, delivered in true Connie fashion, sharp, funny, and unforgettable.

Connie leaves behind her daughters, Pamela Bucalo of Agawam, Rhonda Touchette of North Carolina, and Karen Archambault of Connecticut. She was a proud grandmother to Dawn Erickson and her husband Chad, Laura Bucalo, Leanne Janos, Luke Archambault, Robert Archambault, and Ross Touchette. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Vivian and Natalie Erickson, Lincoln and Owen Archambault and Chase and Marin Janos who will grow up hearing beautiful stories of their great-grandmother’s strength, kindness, and character. Connie is now reunited with her loving husband Ronald, her daughter Lynn, her grandsons Ricky and EJ., and her son-in-law Joseph Bucalo.

Though we will miss her every day, we take comfort in knowing that her love lives on in each of us, in our memories, our laughter, and the way we care for one another. Hers was a life well-lived, and a legacy that will never fade. Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Grise Funeral Home. For online condolences, please visit www.GriseFH.com.
