Michela (Pennachio) Ciccone passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Brigham and Women's Hospital on June 26th. She was 79. Born and raised in San Sossio Baronia, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Angela Pennachio.
Michela was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She came to the United States as a young woman and at first resided in Boston’s North End, so as to be near relatives. In 1979 she settled in Medford with her husband Langiotto, where they raised their family. Michela loved taking care of them. She had a flair for cooking and made many traditional Italian specialties. She would head back to the North End to shop at Tammaro's Butcher Shop, which was run by relatives. She sewed and crocheted a lot and lovingly provided her relatives with the fruits of her labors. She also used these abilities outside of the home, working as a seamstress. She did such a good job that eventually she became a supervisor at Brooks Brothers. Michela was a woman of faith and served as the president of the Madonna delle Grazie Society (Our Lady of Grace) in the North End.
The beloved wife of the late Langiotto J. Ciccone, who passed away in 2002, Michela was a devoted mother to Rocco Ciccone and his wife Jenna, and to the late Anthony Ciccone. She was a loving grandmother to Valentina, Rocco, and Gina. She was a dear sister to the late Rosetta Pennachio.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, July 7 from 9-11 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Saint Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
