Laurette Labrie, Centenarian, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on June 26, 2025 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
Laurette was born in Lowell, MA on April 2, 1924 to Edmond J. Neveu Sr. and Rhea (Beaudry) Neveu. Her family moved to the mill city of Manchester, NH for work a few years later. When she was 16, she left school to work in a textile mill near to the mill building where her father worked. She worked in textile and knitting mills and shoe factories for several years. Laurette later worked at St. Anselm College. She worked at Hillsborough County Nursing Home for 16 years before retiring at age 71.
Laurette met and married her husband, Marcel, in 1946. They built a home and raised their 2 daughters in Manchester. Her husband and family were of utmost importance in her life along with her religious faith. For many years she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting various items to give to family and friends. In summers, she was very fond of picnics at lakes or state parks with family or her best friend.
Laurette had many wonderful qualities including a very practical, cheerful nature and positive outlook. In times of adversity, she would say, “we’ll get through this one day at a time”. She always seemed youthful in spirit and ageless and enjoyed the little things more than material things.
Laurette was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel Labrie, in 1981 but he continued to be her great love to the end. She was also predeceased by her sister, Yvette Coulombe and brothers Gerard Neveu and Edmond J. Neveu, Jr. as well as grandson Scott Lacz. She leaves daughters, Rita Lacz (and former husband Robert) and Claire Bartlett (and husband Kevin); granddaughter, Cherie Yamamoto (and husband Wayne); great granddaughter, Angela Daly and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am followed by a prayer service at 11:30 at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
Laurette’s family wishes to thank the staff of Hillsborough County Nursing Home for their wonderful care and many kindnesses, especially C3 Head Nurse, Debbie and Activities Aide, Emily and the other nurses and LNAs.
