Beatrice T. (Dumont) Johnson “Bea” of Jamaica Plain, passed peacefully at home, at age 93, on June 26, 2025.
Beloved wife of 68 years to the late William P. “Bill” Johnson. Loving mother of Diane Hechavarria and husband Joseph Hechavarria of Nashua, NH, Nancy McCarthy and husband Paul McCarthy of Roslindale, Daniel Johnson and wife Jacqueline Johnson of Medway and the late Kim O’Connell and husband Kevin O’Connell of Roslindale. Daughter of the late Armond and Jeanne Dumont. Beloved Grandmother of Melissa, Adam, Michael, Kevin, Kelly, Kristopher, Nicole, Jacqueline and the late Lorraine McCarthy. Bea was the very proud grandmother of 13 great grandchildren.
Bea was the quintessential grandmother who put her heart and soul into preparing all family holiday celebration dinners and known for her thoughtful caring attention to her children’s and grandchildren’s wants, needs and desires, her heartfelt generosity was a gift to all.
Beatrice was retired from the Boston public Schools after 32 years of service in Nutritional and Dietetics at Margaret Fuller Elementary School in Jamaica Plain. Bea was also known as Mrs. Johnson “The Lunch Lady” who was loved and honored over the years by thousands of children who passed through the halls of the Margaret Fuller.
She’ll be remembered for her warmth, compassion and presence that touched all who knew her.
Bea is and always will be remembered and missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury on Tuesday July 1st from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2nd at 9am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Aquinas 97 South St., Jamaica Plain at 10:00am. Interment to follow at The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery 670 Baker St. West Roxbury.
