Dolores Mary McNamee, formerly of Weymouth, passed away on June 26, 2025 at the age of 99. Originally from NJ, she and her husband, Henry, raised seven children in Weymouth, MA. Dolores moved to Westport about 17 years ago.
Dolores was both a homemaker and a comptroller and was active in her community and her church. She loved her family deeply. She was the president of her sodality at Immaculate Concepcion in East Weymouth. She also loved reminiscing about the old days, traveling, square dancing with her husband, playing Scrabble with friends, and hosting family parties. She was smart, sentimental, reliable, and supportive of everyone around her. She was a true matriarch of her large, close-knit family.
Dolores was born to Ralph Berry and Josephine Meyers, both of PA. She was raised in Maple Shade, NJ and touted that it was a picture-perfect place to grow up. She and Henry met at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and were married in 1946 after the war ended.
Dolores is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Henry F. McNamee, her daughter Elizabeth Kelly, her brother Ralph Berry, and her sister, Josephine ‘Tootsie’ Kerr. She is survived by six children: Dolores ‘Dee’ Ostrega of Ossipee, NH, Kathleen Leary of Hingham, MA, Margaret Querze of Bedford, MA, Anne Marie Gallone of Westport, MA, Josephine Spagna of Westport, MA, and son Henry of Manchester, NH. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Catherine, Patricia, Christopher, Elio, Alana, Carly, Robyn, Robert, Amanda, Daniel, Henry Aiden and Sophie, as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Services are held on Monday, June 30th as follows: Wake from 8:30-9:30am at Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport followed by funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Road, Westport, followed by burial at 12:00pm at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, 726 Washington St., Weymouth, Section 10, Lot 14.
