Obituary

CHICOPEE – Lorraine A. (Corriveau) Champagne, 91, a longtime resident of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. She passed into Eternal Life at the Pioneer Valley Health and Rehabilitation in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Stornoway, Province of Quebec, Canada on May 7, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Louis and Marie Reine (Bureau) Corriveau. She was raised and educated in Canada, moved to the North End of Springfield in 1963, and settled in Chicopee in 1978 where she lived for most of her life. She was a seamstress at the former Rainbow Coat Company in Springfield. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Lorraine was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed by all. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Eugene P. Champagne who was Called Home on August 31, 2015. They were married on September 19, 1953 at Sainte Marguerite de Lingwick, P.Q., Canada and were blessed with over 61 years of happiness together. She leaves her seven loving and devoted children, Sylvain L. Champagne of Springfield, Louise R. Champagne and her wife, Louise A. Sullivan, of West Springfield, Carole L. Maldonado and her husband, Mel, of Springfield, Danielle L. Champagne and her partner, Charles Rytuba, of Chicopee, Luce M. Champagne and her fiancé, John F. Quinn of Springfield, Marlene C. Champagne and her partner, Daniel McGrath, of Belchertown, and Peter S. Champagne and his wife, Janice, of West Springfield; her 13 cherished grandchildren, Aimee Bailey and her husband, Nicholas, Thomas Champagne and his wife, Sara, Sarah Warren and her husband, Matthew O’Neill, Matthew Warren and his fiancée, Katy Solt, Samantha Maldonado and her partner, Peter Myers, Alexandra Maldonado and her partner, Sean Foster, Jillian Sullivan-Dunton and her husband, Creaig Dunton, Steven Sepaniak, Vanessa Stanfield and her husband, Tyler, Courtney Beech, Julia Beech and her husband, Max Montanari, Jenna Champagne, and Jessica Champagne; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Alaina and Brielle Bailey, Grace Morin, and James Stanfield; and extended family members and friends. Lorraine’s family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Valley Health and Rehabilitation most especially to nurses, Monica and Bonnie as well as the support staff with a special thank you to Jeannette and Victoria. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
