Obituary

MISSETT, DENNIS J., of South Boston, passed away on June 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in South Boston, Dennis was a graduate of Charlestown High School in 1968. He joined the electricians' union, Local 103 IBEW, where he was a member for 56 years. He went on to work 17 years in the field before working at the MBTA, where he retired after 23 years. In his teens, Dennis was a very talented musician, playing in a local band called "The Midnight Hour." Later in life he taught himself the bagpipes and joined the Local 103 Pipe & Drum Band, where he marched in many a St. Patrick's Day Parade, as well as in other parades around the state. Dennis was an electrician by trade but a very talented, self-taught woodworker by choice. He spent many hours creating custom designs in his fully loaded cabinet maker's shop in his cellar. But his real passion was the maintenance and upkeep of the pool in his family's backyard oasis. Nothing made him happier than to see his grandchildren, family and friends enjoying their time in his "happy place."

Dennis was the devoted son of the late Joseph M. Missett and Helen M. Missett (Eriksen) of South Boston and Largo, Florida. Loving husband of the late Ann M. Missett (McGowan). Beloved father to Dennis J. Missett, Jr., and Katie Donovan, the late Eileen E. Missett and Elizabeth A. Browning (Missett), all of South Boston. Cherished and adored grandfather (Grampis) to Andrew J. and Owen R. Missett and Molly Ann Browning. Brother of the late Joseph R. Missett, the late John G. Missett and his wife Nancy of Kennewick, Washington, and dear brother to Maureen Missett Lee and her husband John of South Boston. Dennis is also survived by many greatly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
