Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Roddy, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 21, 2025, while spending the weekend with her beloved family at Lake Winnipesaukee, her "happy place."
Born in Lowell on October 18, 1955, she was the daughter of the late John F. Roddy Sr. and the late Ann (McNamara) Roddy. Kathleen was raised and educated in Dracut, graduating from Dracut High School with the class of 1973. After graduation she continued her studies at Middlesex Community, graduating in 1976. She completed her technical training in radiologic technology at the former Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Lowell Ma.
Kathy began her career working in hospitals in the Washington, D.C. area, as an X-ray technician before returning to Massachusetts. Over the years, she dedicated herself to the field of medical imaging. She worked at Chelmsford Medical Associates, and several Ma. hospitals. Massachusetts General Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Nashoba Valley Hospital, and Lowell General Hospital. Later in her career she focused mainly on mammography. Most recently she worked for Derry Imaging in Derry N.H. and Dr. David Morley’s office in N. Chelmsford Ma., where she was respected for her professionalism and compassion.
Kathy was a two time survivor of breast cancer, and an advocate for raising breast cancer awareness. She has participated in numerous organizations and fund raisers. The most challenging being when she completed the The Susan G. Komen 3-Day, 60-mile walk to raise funds for a cure to end breast cancer. Kathy was also deeply involved in the AA community and was proud of her over 40 years of sobriety. She was an inspiration to new, and long term members. She found purpose and strength in helping and sponsoring others, and was equally grateful for the friendships and support she received in return.
Known for her warmth, generosity, and lively spirit, Kathleen lit up every room she entered. She was the first to arrive and the last to leave any gathering, and she would never show up empty handed. She loved socializing, shopping, cruising, vacationing and taking trips to Lake Winnipesaukee, any beach and Foxwoods with friends, and family.
She had a lifelong love for animals, especially cats, and was devoted to her pets. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, shopping and crocheting. Often creating thoughtful handmade gifts for children and loved ones.
Kathy is survived by her siblings: John F. Roddy Jr. and his wife Yvette of Dracut, James E. Roddy and his wife Paula of Derry, Patricia A. Earle of Dracut, and Pamela J. Bettencourt and her husband Gary of Dracut.
