Obituary

Margaret Mary "Peggi" (McIntyre) Gedutis, age 86, of South Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025.

Born on July 3, 1938 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Peggi was the cherished daughter of the late Daniel A. and Margaret M. (Johnson) McIntyre. She grew up in Dorchester surrounded by the love of her family and carried that devotion into every chapter of her life. Peggi and her family moved to Weymouth during her senior year of high school. She graduated in 1956 from Dorchester High School and went to work as a secretary for Saab Motors.

After raising her children, Peggi dedicated many years as the office manager for Gedutis Plumbing in Weymouth. Her attention to detail and steadfast work ethic were instrumental to the business’s success. She also worked as a secretary for the late Dr. Robert DiTullio in Quincy, where she was known for her warm demeanor and welcoming presence.

At the heart of Peggi’s life was her family. She shared a loving marriage with her devoted husband of 63 years, William L. Gedutis. Together they built a beautiful home filled with love, strength and laughter. Peggi was always a thoroughly devoted mother to Wayne W. Gedutis and his wife Leslie Lilla of Las Vegas, Nevada; Laura A. (Gedutis) LeBarron and her husband Jim of South Weymouth; and Kevin W. Gedutis and his wife Rose West of Rockland.

Her grandchildren were her heart and soul. She was the sweetest, sassiest and most supportive Nana to Brett, Maggie, and Tess LeBarron and Daniel and William Gedutis. Her grandchildren brought immense happiness and joy to her life. Peggi’s love for them was boundless; she celebrated their milestones with pride and supported them in all of their many pursuits with unwavering affection.

A lifelong animal lover, Peggi shared her home over the years with several beloved spoiled cats and great dogs who brought her companionship, love and comfort. She leaves behind her treasured black cat Vader, who remained faithfully by her side.

Peggi was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers Daniel and John McIntrye and sister and best friend Patricia (McIntyre) Pace.

Those who knew Peggi will remember her as a constant source of love and support—for her children, grandchildren, friends, and all whose lives she touched with kindness, sassiness and a smile.

May her memory bring comfort to those lucky enough to have known and loved her.
