David “Dave” P. Markunas, 71, of Worcester died Wednesday, June 18th at home after a period of declining health. His wife of 22 years, Judith A. (Darling) Markunas died July of 2024. He leaves two step-daughters, Sarah McDonald of Worcester and Melissa McDonald of Dudley and her daughter, Mackenzie McDonald. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Lewis.
Born in Millbury, Dave was the son of Charles and Ethel (Cofsky) Markunas. Dave had many jobs throughout his life but was most proud of being a fire fighter for the Town of Millbury for many years.
Dave was a man of quiet passions and steady hands. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life—bird watching in the early morning, tending to his garden with care, and spending hours working on cars, a hobby he truly loved. Whether he was under the hood of a classic vehicle or watching a cardinal land on a branch, Dave was always at peace doing what he loved.
He will be remembered for the way he could fix just about anything. His love for nature and mechanics reflected a deep appreciation for beauty and function in all things.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
