Obituary

Helen M. (Trzcinski) Kosik, 94, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22 at D’Youville Senior Health Care Center with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Stanley W. Kosik who passed away in 1989.
She was born in Lowell on June 5, 1931, a daughter of the late Waclaw W. Trzcinski and the late Leokadjia (Zawodny) Trzcinski. She was raised and educated in Lowell and was a lifelong communicant of St. Margaret of Scotland Church.
As a young woman she worked for Nu Knit in Lowell where she sewed mens swim trunks. Upon their closure, she moved into a career with Wang Laboratories as an assembler where she worked for over 10 years before her retirement in the 1980’s.
She was a devout catholic and found peace within her catholic faith. She loved spending time with her family, especially playing cards or jigsaw puzzles. Additionally she enjoyed music and musicals and spent time sewing and crocheting over the years.
Helen never had an unkind word for anyone and will be remembered as the sweetest person. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Patricia McKay and her husband, Jim, of Methuen, Stanley W. Kosik, Jr. of Lowell and Carol Lavoie of Nashua, NH; her grandchildren, Christine Soukaras, Matthew, Brian and James McKay, Andrew Kosik, Douglas Geary, Summer Cunha, Melissa, Daniel and Jessica Lavoie and Athena Soukaras; her cousins, Louanne Zawodny, Frances Allen, Janice and Theresa Zawodny and Gladys Wedgyn.
She was also the mother of the late Catherine Soukaras, and grandmother of the late Nicholas Soukaras, Jr.. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Eddie, Leo, Stanley, Frank, and John Trzcinski.
You are welcome to attend her calling hours from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852. On Saturday, June 28, 2025, her funeral will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., her funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Margaret of Scotland Church in Lowell followed by burial in Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery.
