Nancy Ann Kelly 56, of Charlestown, passed away on June 22, 2025.
Nancy was born in Boston, MA on March 12, 1969, daughter of the late Helen S. (Gilgunn) Kelly and William J. Kelly. She was raised in Charlestown, where she was educated at Saint Catherine’s Parochial School and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph’s High School in Brighton. After graduation she worked at the law firm Cogavin & Waystack for 20+ years.
Nancy was a soul who loved deeply and lived fully. Her heart overflowed with affection for her friends, family, sister, niece, brother-in-law, and her beloved son, who was the light of her life. She was her son’s biggest supporter, his fiercest protector, and his lifelong best friend. She had an uncanny ability to bring smiles to even the toughest days. Whether through a clever joke, a silly prank, or a perfectly timed sarcastic comment, she filled every room with joy and laughter. She had a unique gift for making people feel seen, heard and loved. A lifelong animal lover, she cared for every creature with tenderness and grace.
Halloween was her favorite time of year — she embraced the season with a playful spirit, creative costumes, and a childlike wonder that brought smiles to everyone. Her love, laughter, captivating sense of humor and light will be forever missed, but always remembered in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. She was happiest when surrounded by her son, family and the people she loved most, and she was proud to be from Charlestown, a place she always called home.
Nancy is the beloved daughter of the late Helen and William Kelly. She is survived by her son, Jake Minear and his wife Alexis, she is the beloved sister of Karen (Kelly) Comeau and her husband Richard, her niece, Gabrielle who held a special place in her heart and her dearest friend Maura O’Neil.
We find comfort in knowing you are with the Lord, as Scripture reminds us: ‘To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord’ (2 Corinthians 5:8). Your love and light will remain with us always. Your life was a gift to us, and your memory will be a blessing forever.
A private service will be held for immediate family.
