SEBAGO- Lorinda Delphine Divine Gallagher
Lorinda Delphine Divine Gallagher passed peacefully in the early morning hours of June 23, 2025, at her home in Sebago, Maine. She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Michael Gallagher, her daughter Heatherton Gallagher, son-in-law Reginald Herrick, granddaughter Sam Herrick, currently of Arlington, Virginia, and her son Brandon Gallagher, daughter-in-law Dr. Ashley Gallagher, grandchildren Kylie, Elizabeth, Jenna, and Joshua Gallagher, of Duxbury, Massachusetts. Her entire family, including her beloved canine companions Schuyler and Ginger (affectionately known as “The Fun Police” and “Loudmouth” by their extended fur family Enzo and Tally) will miss her. She was 78 years young.
Lori was pre-deceased by her parents Bradford Dalton and Norma Lees Divine, of New Hartford, New York, and her sister Norma “Diddy” Schoonover, of Lake Placid, New York, and Bluffton, South Carolina.
Lori graduated from New Hartford High School in New Hartford, New York in 1966 (shortly after meeting her husband), and from Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts in 1968. She has made her home in Maine since 1974, raising her family in South Portland before moving to Scarborough. In 1984, she began enjoying summers at her beloved camp on the shore of Sebago Lake and permanently settled there in 2012.
As a mother, she never missed a sporting event, dramatic performance, or award ceremony for her children. She was always there to cheer embarrassingly loudly, letting the crowd know how proud she was. She was a member of the First Congregational Church on Meeting House Hill in South Portland, singing as an alto in the choir and serving on several committees. Her community volunteer activities included a seat on the Board of Directors of the Sweetser Children’s Home in Saco; help with the annual Christmas Piggy Bank Market of the Portland, YWCA; enthusiastically assisting the “Easy Does It” senior exercise program in Cape Elizabeth; and being nanny and mentor for several family friends and their children.
She was affectionately called “GG” by her grandchildren and will be remembered for joyous times at camp. Some of her favorite grandkid activities were picking berries, reading stories, snuggling by the fire, painting fingernails, making s’mores at the firepit, and enjoying a boat ride. GG was always there with laughter, a loving touch, or playful mischief for them.
Her immediate family will quietly celebrate her life with a private gathering and hopes that friends can join at a convenient later date for remembrance. Her family is grateful for the outpouring of condolences and support from friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Sweetser of Saco, Maine, or the Spaulding Memorial Library in Sebago.
