Obituary

CHICOPEE – Alberta E. (Macia) Jordan, 101, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, June 21, 2025 surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Shrewsbury, Vermont on May 15, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Irving and Stella (Lawrence) Macia. She was raised in Chester where she graduated from the Chester High School. She later lived on Oklahoma Street in Springfield before moving to Chicopee in 1979 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed for many years at the former Liberty Bakeries in West Springfield. She was a longtime communicant at Saint Mary Church, now Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield where she was a member of the Saint Mary Women's Guild. Above all things, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arden J. Jordan who was Called Home on August 28, 2002. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on January 23, 1943 and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. She leaves her six loving and devoted children, Gary Jordan and his wife, Catherine, Gregory Jordan and his wife, Liz, Cheryl M. Rivers of Springfield, Mary E. Spakanik, Joanne Sullivan, and Carolyn Evans and James; her dear son-in-law, David Loughman; her 19 cherished grandchildren; her 30 cherished great grandchildren; and her extended family members and friends. In addition to her beloved parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Diane Loughman who was Called Home on November 9, 2024; her two cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Loughman and Christopher Evans; her three dear sons-in-law, Christopher Rivers, Joseph Spakanik, Jr., and Michael Sullivan; her dear sister, Katherine Thomas; and her two dear brothers, Donald Macia and Burton Macia. Her family will receive friends on Thursday morning, June 26, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 which will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020.For those who prefer, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104.
