John R. Callamaro, 88, of Londonderry, NH passed away peacefully Sunday June 22, 2025, at Greystone Farms in Salem, NH. He was born on April 15, 1937, in Ambler, PA, a son of Joseph and Mary (Romano) Callamaro.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia (Moyer) Callamaro and their three children: Lisa Callamaro, Dana Howard, John Callamaro and his wife Donna. He is also survived by three amazing grandchildren Monica, Emma and Maxwell. John was preceded in death by his sister Janet Bokowski.
When John was a teenager, he was given a ride in a small plane. As the pilot let him take the yoke for a minute, he said to himself, “This is for me.” When he turned sixteen, he secretly began taking flying lessons at a local airport. After high school, he enrolled in La Salle University. After three years of college, he qualified to join the Navy’s Officer Candidate School and then the Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola, Florida graduating as a Lieutenant Junior Grade with the VR3 Squadron. After the Navy, he went on to an illustrious career as a TWA Captain where he not only flew around the world but also trained other pilots. He loved photography, wood working, traveling in his RV with his wife/grandkids, competitive trap shooting and hunting with family, friends and his trusted dogs (Patches and Freckles).
John was always the first person to offer help and support to friends and neighbors. His lifelong Navy and TWA friends are a testament to the man he was in life. He often said that he got everything he could have ever wanted: a wonderful wife who was a good mother, loving children and grandchildren, great friends and his dream career.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
