Hiram, ME - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Louise Locke Irish, 85 years old, who went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2025. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband of 63 years Reverend Robert Irish, her three boys, their wives, and their grandchildren.
She was born in Conway, NH on October 26, 1939, to the late Charles and Amy (McLellan) Locke. Mary grew up in Conway and attended all of the local schools. In 1961, she married Robert Irish and they moved to Parsonsfield where she began her ministry as a Pastor’s Wife. She had a warm and caring nature that allowed her to connect with people that made a lasting impression. One of Mary’s passions was meeting new people in the community and sharing her love for Jesus. Now if you were one of the lucky ones she shared her famous homemade donuts with you. They became so popular that her donuts were requested for all the church and family events. We can’t forget her homemade apple pies as well!
Most of all, Mary’s greatest joy was taking care of her grandbabies including other babies and children within the community. She loved rocking and singing them to sleep. She had so much love to give. She had so many talents, she crocheted blankets as heirlooms, stamped all of our holiday and birthday cards, and every birthday she and Bob would sing Happy Birthday to each family member over the phone. God granted one of Mary’s wishes two years ago, her first great grandson Ryder was born. Within seven weeks, her great granddaughter Avery was born. She loved spending as much time as possible with both of them. Mary will be remembered for so many things, but most of all she instilled in us all the importance of family and putting Jesus first in everything you do.
Mary is survived by her husband Robert E Irish, sons Robert Jr and wife Crystal, Charles and wife Amy, Mark and wife Shelly, grandchildren, Alicia, Sidney, and Caleb, Shannon, husband Nate and Shane, and Savannah and Arielle, great grandchildren Ryder and Avery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Hilltop Baptist Church located at 17 School Street, Cornish, ME 04020 on Saturday, June 28, 2025; Visiting Hours will begin at 10:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will be private at Conway Village Cemetery.
