Obituary

Passed June 21, 2025

Joanne Caroline Lucci of Holden, born on March 18, 1960, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Lucci. Joanne leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her entire family - a brother Charlie Lucci and wife Donna of Worcester, sister Anne Marie Lucci of Worcester, sister Brenda Kelosis and husband Jack of Millbury, sister Barbara Lucci and husband Roberto of Worcester and sister/guardian Florence Lucci of Worcester. Joanne enjoyed being an aunt to Jay, Kayleigh, Emily, and Rachel. And a great aunt to Emma and Little Jack. She leaves two close cousins Suzanne Aucoin of Holden and John Moore of Springfield, VA as well as two aunts Suzanne Lucci and Ginger Alicandro both of Worcester. Joanne grew up enjoying our close Italian family in Worcester, Sunday dinners, non-stop music in our home and two beautiful grandmothers, aunts, and uncles.

Joanne is a 1978 graduate of Burncoat High School. She viewed the world from a beautifully unique perspective. She was a 1970's girl in both fashion and music. She loved and appreciated art, music, jewelry and animals throughout her life. She enjoyed many vacations and sister sleepovers on Cape Cod.

Although she lived with developmental challenges, her level of emotional intelligence was downright genius. Joanne displayed for all of us the true meaning of life and love. We were blessed and gifted to call her our sister.

Joanne was graced with services from the MA Department of Developmental Disabilities in 2001. We thank every service coordinator and staff member that helped her over the years but a special thanks to Deb O'Neil (D.D.S. Boston) who advocated relentlessly for an appropriate placement into a brand-new group home in 2020. She is the angel our family will never forget. Never....

We thank The Advocates Organization, sincerely, for their tireless commitment to Joanne in these last few challenging years.
We thank her medical team:
Dr. Deborah Dreyfus - the most compassionate PCP who dedicates her practice to the developmentally gifted population.
Dr Oliver Joseph - who really helped Joanne feel as well as possible in the last few years.
Dr. Eric Iida, - who chose incredible compassion, instead of judgement, for Joanne's unique kidney needs and
Dr. Robert Greene - who took excellent care of those feet that never stopped.
Special thanks to the Genesis Program that supported Joanne throughout her entire adult life as well as Seven Hills Foundation in recent years.
