CHICOPEE – Joaquina A. “Jackie” (Augusto) Bergeron, 88, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, June 20, 2025. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Ludlow on November 27, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late Hector and Maria (Batista) Augusto and was raised in Ludlow. She graduated from Ludlow High School and was a member of the girls basketball team. In 1963, she married her beloved husband, Leo and they moved to Chicopee Falls where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant and was employed by Mass Mutual Life Insurance, the E. J. O’Neil Insurance Agency in Chicopee and lastly for the Saint Paul Insurance Company which later became Traveler’s Insurance. She was a communicant of the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and currently a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church, Chicopee. During her leisure time, Jackie enjoyed traveling to many places with her late husband Leo, including Alaska, Portugal and Hawaii. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Deacon Leo A. Bergeron who was Called Home on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020. They were married on February 23, 1963 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Ludlow and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by her six dear siblings, Celeste Augusto, Teresa Augusto, Jose Augusto, Lourdes Swiecanski, Arthur Augusto and Aurea Grenier; and her dear nephews and nieces, Michael Houlihan and Richard "Buddy" Grenier and Cathy Herold and Maryann Grenier. Jackie leaves many dear nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and extended family members. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, June 25, 2025 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
