Patricia Rose (Libby) Brown, lovingly known as Patty, passed away on May 28, 2025, in Portland, Maine.
Born on December 8, Patty lived a life full of strength, fire, and an unmistakable sense of humor. She is survived by her loving husband, Denny Brown; her sons, Joseph Libby and his wife Alyssa, and Rob Libby and his wife Jen; her three cherished grandchildren; her siblings, Marc Spiller and Barbara Spiller; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Patty was full of life and full of surprises — she loved to gamble, often sneaking off for a bit of fun and returning with (overpriced) groceries and a grin. Her voice could be heard from miles away, and her presence could shift the entire dynamic of a room. She was a devoted mother, to not just her own three kids, but to any kid who needed a loving home. No child went without a Christmas on Patty and her twin Luella’s watch. She was well known as a fierce protector and you always knew where she stood. She was bold, unfiltered, and fiercely loved by all who truly knew her.
She battled heart conditions for over 25 years with unshakable resilience. Through every challenge, she remained strong, proud, and always true to herself.
Patty is now reunited with her mother, brother, twin sister, her first husband Robert Libby, and most importantly, her youngest son, Kevin — whose hug she longed for most.
She leaves behind a family that will forever miss her strength, her spirit, and her unforgettable laugh.
We are celebrating the life of Patricia (Libby) Brown on 28 June, 2pm-6pm at the Portland Elks Club.
