Katherine M. “Kathy” Asiaf (Newell) age 80, of Bridgewater, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late David A. Asiaf for 49 years, in love together for 62 years.
Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (McCormack) Newell.
Kathy graduated from Brockton High School and went on to attend LaBaron Hairdressing Academy. She opened her own hair salon on North Main Street, called The Shear Cropper, a fixture in Brockton for thirty years, where many of her lifelong friendships began.
Along with her late husband David, she also owned and operated Asiaf & Associates Constables for 58 years. Many of the business relationships that started there flourished into close friendships throughout the years.
She was a member of the Parkwood Beach Association, the Mass Bay Constables Association, National Association of Process Servers, and the Bridgewater Garden Club. She also enjoyed being a member of the Brockton High School Reunion Committee-Class of 1962.
Kathy had many interests including gardening, music & dancing, watching home improvement shows, was a New England Patriots fanatic, and spent summers in Wareham at Parkwood Beach. She was an avid motorcyclist with her husband and the Asiaf Raiders Motorcycle Club. In addition, she loved to decorate for holiday house tours in Bridgewater.
Most importantly, her family was the center of her life and she loved them dearly. She cherished the time she spent with her family including her husband, daughter, granddaughter, siblings, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Kathy also had many close friends which she considered family including her “Birthday Breakfast Crew” and her close knit neighborhood group.
In addition to her daughter, Kate Asiaf and granddaughter, Elarie, Kathy is survived by her siblings; James Newell, Patricia Boyle, Cheryl Whittemore, MaryEllen Currie and Daniel Newell. She was preceded in death by her brother Kevin Newell.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:30 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
