CHICOPEE – Robert M. “Bob” Lombardi, 82, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, June 16, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on May 4, 1943, a beloved son of the late Angelo and Madalene (Montemagni) Lombardi. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was the manager for 35 years at the former Johnson’s Bookstore in downtown Springfield and then was a sales associate for over 15 years at the Home Depot in Chicopee. He was the longtime Cub Master of Pack 424, and Assistant Scout Master and Committee Member for Troup 424, both out of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. Most of all, he enjoyed traveling with his family, especially to Cape Cod. He was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Lorraine L. (Couture) Lombardi who was Called Home on November 17, 2022. They were married on September 4, 1967 at Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. He leaves his three loving and devoted sons, Robert M. “Bobby” Lombardi II and his wife, Sherrilee, of Baldwinville, Christopher M. Lombardi and his wife, Aneta, of Ludlow, and James M. Lombardi and his wife, Rachel Allessio-Lombardi, of Westfield; his eight cherished grandchildren, Elyzabeth Taylor, Ethan Pernerewski, Vincenzo Lombardi, Sofia Lombardi, Kamila Lombardi, Neo Lombardi, Isabella Lombardi, and Luca Charles Lombardi; his six dear siblings, Chiara Webster, Neil Lombardi and his wife, Lori, Julio Lombardi and his partner, Linda, Linda Wogan and her husband, Michael, Kathleen Breault and her husband, Paul, and Michael Lombardi; his dear brother-in-law, Gerard Couture and his wife, Germaine; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Paul Lombardi; his dear brother-in-law, Jean Webster; sister-in-law, Annette Tardiff; and his beloved canine companions, Elliott and Kay-Dee. His funeral will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. His burial will follow the Prayer Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 26, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
