GILMANTON IRON WORKS ---- Gareth ‘Marty’ Keith Martindale, 76, of Cogswell Road, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Marty was born on July 1, 1948, in Nyack, NY, the son of the late Delbert Keith Martindale and Lorena Bell (Brubaker) Martindale.
Marty was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran. A resident of Gilmanton Iron works since 1988, Marty was a machinist until starting his own construction business, Vintage Construction, and becoming a self-employed general contractor. He was a quiet, strong, observant and thoughtful man. Quick with a joke or to offer words of encouragement. Never one to covet the spotlight he preferred to work quietly and steadily but always appreciated a job well done. He really had two speeds slow and stopped. He loved music, singing, motorcycles, friends, family, food and blatantly violating OSHA policy and procedures for "funsies."
Marty is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Martindale (who has been cleared of any wrongdoing or suspicion in his death); sons (the favorite) Matthew Martindale and his wife Theresa, and (the problem) Douglas Martindale and his wife Sara; grandchildren Jacob Martindale and his wife Sarah (aka Harbinger of Death), Mary and her first husband Stephen, and Ashley (the favored and best prospect of the genes) Martindale; great-grandchildren Olivia, Emma and Henrae; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marty is predeceased by his sister Sharon.
There will be no calling hours, as Marty hated wakes and the hooplah associated with them. If you wish to remember him then do so as you see fit. His family will carry his memory and lessons with them always.
