Eleanor P. (Howard) Babine, a resident of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and formerly of Charlestown, Massachusetts, entered into eternal life on June 17, 2025. She was 99 years of age.
Eleanor was born on June 5, 1926, the daughter of Margaret and John Howard. Though she accomplished many things in her early years, on June 30, 1946, Eleanor married the love of her life, Bernie Babine. Like most marriages, theirs had its ups and downs, but through love and perseverance, they built a family legacy that continues to grow. This was what Eleanor was most proud of.
Eleanor was a founding member of the Charlestown School Girls, and up until recently, she could always be found sitting on the corner of Pearl Street, cheering on the bands at the Bunker Hill Day Parade. Eleanor was an avid Red Sox fan and would occasionally yell at the TV at some misguided calls. She was the first to send a card or say a prayer for neighbors or friends in need. She is also the star of many TikTok videos, courtesy of her great-grandchildren, who lovingly call her Nana Bine.
Eleanor is the beloved mother of Richard Babine and his wife Deborah, Donna Burke and her husband William, Paula Harmon and her husband Francis, and William Babine and his wife Jennifer. She is the loving grandmother and great-grandmother to Laurie Babine and her daughter Claire; Jackie Roberts, her wife Katie, and their children Giovanna and Jeremiah; Colleen Staples, her husband Derek, and their children Jake and Rowan; William Burke and his daughters Madison, Hailey, and Kendall; Brian Burke; Richard Harmon and his wife Amanda, and their daughters Logan, Prudence, and Bernadette; Brooke Marchesi and her husband Joseph, and their children Ava, Mia, and Joseph; Erica Harmon and her children Brooke and Declan; and Kenny and Jillian Babine.
Eleanor was welcomed into eternal life by her husband, Bernie Babine, who has been waiting patiently for forty-four years for one more dance.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's Funeral on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. in the funeral home.
