Stephanie Luizzi passed away peacefully at home in Seekonk, Mass on June 1, at the age of 101. She was born in Brockton, Mass. to John and Sofia Warzo. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, Williams Business School, and Brockton Hospital School of X-Ray Technology.
She was married for 44 years to her beloved and irreplaceable husband Frank Luizzi, who predeceased her in 1997. She was also predeceased by her brother Frederick in 2010 and her darling grandson Bobby Bench in 1994.
Stephanie worked as an X-Ray technician in Brockton and made many lifelong friends among her coworkers. She also worked at the Brockton Multi-Service Center before moving to Pocasset on Cape Cod where she worked at the Barnstable County Hospital. Stephanie gave of her time as a volunteer at Falmouth hospital and for the Samaritans of Cape Cod. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Pocasset, and later Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Seekonk. She was a member of the Women’s Guild and the Senior Saints, working at church fairs and donating her crafts and hand painted items for sale. In her youthful 80’s and 90’s she was a member of the Red Hat Mamas.
She is survived by her daughter Francine Luizzi-Bench and her husband Bob Bench of Mansfield, her son Jack and his wife Michelle of Seekonk, grandchildren Greg Bench of North Attleboro, Victoria Luizzi of Reno Nevada, and Isabella Luizzi of Boston.
Stephanie will be remembered most for her sharp mind and sense of humor which stayed with her to the end. She could pull off an April Fool’s joke at 101, and shared her riddles and jokes with successive generations of family, friends, doctors and caregivers. A memorial mass and burial will be held on Wednesday July 9, at 10 am, at St Anthony’s Catholic Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth.
