Obituary

COFFEY, Alice Joan (Adams) of West Roxbury formerly of Braintree, June 17, 2025.

Beloved wife of 55 years to the late Paul Coffey. Loving mother of John Coffey and his wife Tabitha of Oklahoma City, Patricia Gozzo and her husband Robert of Weymouth, and James Coffey of West Roxbury. Beloved grandmother of Laurel and her husband Ethan of Los Angeles, Brian and his Fiancé Samantha, Kevin, John, and Michael Gozzo, and Bostyn Coffey.

Joan was born and raised in Braintree, Massachusetts to Earl and Mary Adams, the youngest of four children. Her older brothers were Richard, Raymond, and Robert Adams. She graduated Braintree High School and worked for many years as an executive secretary at Boston College. She married the love of her life, Paul, and moved to West Roxbury in 1963 where they raised a loving family and their family dog, O’Hara.

Joan was not one to be inactive. She was a long-time parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. John Chrysostom Church, worked for many years at Filenes with her best friend Mal, watched her beloved Patriots from the clubhouse, was an avid reader, and hosted ‘Wednesday Night Cards’ with the Fab Five. She had a love of travel throughout her whole life and saw the world with her husband, family, and friends including hot air balloons, white water rafting, helicopter rides over volcanoes, camel rides in Jerusalem, and more.

She was blessed with a strong faith, and found great comfort in the love of the Blessed Mother.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful caretakers at Sunrise Senior Living for the excellent services they provided Joan.

Funeral Mass at St. John Chrysostom Church, West Roxbury on Friday, June 20 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Joan’s memory to St. John Chrysostom Villagers Group 4750 Washington St, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
