Florence E. Maki of Worcester died peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 20, 2006, three days after her 95th birthday. She was preceded by her beloved husband, Toivo, in 1968.
She was born in St. Vincent de Paul, Que. Canada in 1911, but has lived in Worcester since she was 9 months’ old. Her parents were Joseph and Aldea (Papineau) Morin. She is preceded by sisters Mary Lutzi and Yvonne Sparr of Washington State; also by brothers Armand Morin of New York and Edmund Morin of California. She is survived by sisters Tena Fassbender of England and Simone Holt of California and brothers Paul Morin and his wife Sara of California, Henry Morin of California, Joseph Morin and his wife Marie of Nevada; many nieces and nephews.
She leaves her dear family, a daughter Barbara Maki of New Hampshire, grandson Gregory McCausland of New York and granddaughter Susan McCausland and her companion Matt de Pofi of Colorado and Anthony Bush and his children Kayla and Rhamel of New York; a son Robert Maki and his wife Donna of Worcester, granddaughter Christine Cogswell and her husband Craig of Boylston and great-grandchildren, Caden and Chloe; and grandson Brian Maki and his wife April of Worcester and great-grandson Brian Paul Jr.
She was gentle and loving and will be missed. She worked until she was 72, enjoyed nature and gardening. Tomatoes were a passion she passed on.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at All Faiths Cemetery on Sunday, August 27th. Contributions can be made in her name to UMass Memorial Hospice, P.O. Box 2795, Worcester MA 01613-9938. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
