Karin (Weis) Silva, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on March 14, 1940, in Mannheim, Germany, the daughter of the late Emil C Weis and Elisabeth (Schneider) Weis. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Pedro Silva, in 1994.
Karin and Pedro built a beautiful life together, rooted in deep family bonds and lifelong friendships. Known for her warm heart and open door, Karin welcomed friends, neighbors, and extended family into her home with joy and generosity. Her love for entertaining brought people together, many of whom became lifelong friends. Karin’s kindness created a true sense of belonging. She especially cherished summers at Lake Winnipesaukee and traveled widely to stay connected with dear friends around the world.
Karin was fortunate to share her later years with her devoted companion, Stephen Urban. Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received from the staff at Baystate Medical Center, Baystate Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, Westfield Gardens Rehabilitation Center, and her dedicated home health aides, whose support and kindness enriched her final chapter.
She is survived by her son Michael Silva of Chicopee; two daughters Michaela Fernandes and her husband Miguel of Chicopee and Susan Stone and her husband Shawn of Danvers; five grandchildren, Frederico Fernandes and his wife Olivia, Alexandra (Fernandes) Moylan and her husband Sean; Nicole, Joseph and Jacob Stone. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Theodore Fernandes, Amelia and Julian Moylan.
Her presence was a gift; her love, enduring. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 20th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 21st from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
