Louise Williams Robinson Darden, 82, of Tifton, died Saturday, August 19, 2006, in Ashburn. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Greg Sowell, Dick Kitchens, Kenny Brownlee, Morgan Moon, Butch Davis, Brian Mathis and Lynn Kelly will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joel Johnson, Royce Jones, Ralph Edwards, Frank McGill, Bob Reinhardt, Frank Koran, Wade Clark, George Medford, Jake Herring and Art McClellan. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 20, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Darden was born on April 19, 1924 in Sly County, Georgia and was the daughter of John Williams and Foeletta Presley Williams, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Daniel Robinson and her second husband, John Darden. She was a retired secretary to Dr. W. Ches Smith, III for five years at the First Baptist Church and part-time secretary with the University of Georgia Rural Development Center for 17 years. She was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church, where she was YWA leader; Outreach Leader for Sunday School; member of I-75 Hospital Ministry; served on Hospitality Committee and the Postal Service Committee. She was a member of Bridge Club and the 20th Century Woman's Club.
Ms. Darden is survived by two sons, Daniel Robinson of Gainesville, Florida and Glenn Roginson of Spartanburg, South Carolina; one step-son, John A. Darden of Lenox; one daughter, Brenda Wildes of Ashburn; two step-daughters, Brenda Wetherington of Tifton and Dixie Arnette; one brother, John C. Williams of Pearson; nine grandchildren, Kerry Wildes, Monica Wildes, Alan Wildes, Danny Wildes, Jennifer Robinson, Jordan Robinson, Josh Robinson and Jacob Robinson; and six great grandchildren, Jacob Wildes, Hannah Wildes, Rebekah Wildes, Anabelle Wildes, Jackson Wildes and Carter Wildes.
