Obituary

Richard George McAllister, Jr. 78, of Franklin died June 12 at Milford Regional Medical Center following a long illness. He was the loving husband of Julie (Montminy) McAllister for the past 26 years.

Born in Boston, May 16,1947, the son of the late Richard G. and Ruth E. (Campbell) McAllister, Richard was raised in West Roxbury and had lived in Franklin for the past 26 years.

Richard was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

Richard had been a civil engineer for Gannett Fleming and Weston and Samson.
He enjoyed genealogy, following the Patriots and Red Sox and was devoted to his extensive family.

Richard served in the Army during the Vietnam War , attaining the rank of SP5.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Loren McAllister of Acton.
He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Robin Chabot and her husband, Christopher of Castroville, Texas and Roxanne Clinton and her husband Joseph of Franklin.
Richard was the former husband of the late Audrey Rauscher.

He is also survived by his siblings, Ann Getch and her partner John Nasuta, of Crystal River, Thomas McAllister and his wife Carol of Bellingham, Robert McAllister and his wife Marilyn of Carver and Sun City, Jeanne McAllister and her wife Ann Godin of Falmouth, Patricia Caldwell and her husband Steve of West Roxbury, Mary Newberg and her husband Richard of Natick, William McAllister of Norwood, Catherine McAllister of West Roxbury, John McAllister and his wife Anita of Walpole, Ruth Murphy and her husband Peter of Dedham and Elizabeth McAllister of West Roxbury. Richard was predeceased by his brother Kenneth of Auburn.

Richard is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Samuel, Kathrynn, Jean-Paul, Theresa, Ryan, Sophie, Lilly, Carter & Jackson and two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Jameson
His funeral mass will be celebrated on FRIDAY, June 20 in St. Mary’ Church at
10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:30 p.m.

His calling hours will be on WEDNESDAY, June 18 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin from 4-7 p.m.

Due to flower restrictions at the National Cemetery, the family asks that donations be made in Richard’s memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave. Boston, MA 02215
