LIMINGTON- Jeffrey Lee “Jeff” Gammon, 66, passed away on June 10th, 2025, in Portland Maine after a brief illness.
He was born on August 24, 1958, in Westbrook, ME. His passing marks the loss of a man whose presence was as bold and unforgettable as the stories he loved to tell.
When he was finished with school, he went to work at Brackets Apple Orchard and local shoe shop. Jeff loved to work and worked hard throughout his life with his many skills. He learned logging by working with his father in the woods with a pair of oxen. He worked in body shops, drove trucks, owned his own and retired after running a logging and excavation business. He was forever grateful to his friend Lew Weatherby that taught him bodywork. A skilled and talented welder and fabricator, Jeff’s talent extended far beyond the ordinary. He once cut two cars in half to make one—a feat that spoke volumes about his ingenuity and determination. Whether working in his garage or behind the wheel of his logging truck, Jeff brought precision and pride to everything he did. His knowledge and operation of machinery was legendary; he could pick up a bottle with a cherry picker without crushing it—just one example of his remarkable finesse.
He enjoyed driving run down pickup truck's, saying “No one wants to borrow a junk truck!” He truly loved all dogs, even the naughtiest ones. His dog, King, customized his truck by chewing the interior to which he told people, “You can buy a truck anywhere, a good dog like that is hard to come by!” Jeff had an adventurous spirit and found joy in simple pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing and quiet time on the porch. Riding his Harley and building and driving hotrods brought him immense pleasure. He was always up for antiquing with Sheila or going to swap meets with friends looking for that part "you may need someday". Jeff was a true Mainer through and through—rugged, resourceful, and always ready to lend a hand. He was the first phone call when someone needed help, no matter the hour or task. His generosity and loyalty made him a steadfast friend to many. He had a knack for finding 4-leaf clovers and giving them to people for good luck.
He adored children and had an uncanny ability to connect with them through humor and warmth. His quick wit and daring nature made him a favorite among young ones and adults alike. He was always supportive of whatever the kids were doing whether racing cars, go-carts or drifting and loved being involved. Jeff had a gift for storytelling—his tales of “the old days” in his garage or around a firepit left listeners captivated.
He was extremely proud to have built his home using oak logs he had cut down and run through his sawmill. He was also proud of the log cabin he had recently built with Sheila and was looking forward to spending more time there.
Family meant everything to Jeff. He is survived by his fiancé Sheila Townsend, whom he called his wife; his son Jason Gammon and his fiancée Desiree LaChance of Hollis; daughter Lisa Dunnells and her husband Craig of S. Hiram; daughter Billie-Jo Gammon and her partner Drew Morse of Limington; stepdaughter Leigha Cornish and her husband Brad of Hollis; brother Barry Gammon and his wife Darlene of Limington; sister Kathy Gammon Sanborn of Limerick; brother Ryan Gammon and his wife Missy of Limington; brother in law Linwood Webster and his partner Janet Low of Buxton; mother in law Mary Webster of Gorham.
