Wilbur Eugene “Gene” Seigler, 93, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Seigler at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. John Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Kurt “Chip” Seigler, Alex Seigler, Lucian Cobb, Jay Baughman, Jim Seigler and Sam Seigler will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the I. D. Morgan Sunday School Class and the Senior Choir of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mr. Seigler was born on January 12, 1932, in Aiken County, South Carolina, and he was the son of the late James Parmes “J. P.” Seigler and Frances Derrick Seigler. In addition to his parents, Mr. Seigler was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Padgett Seigler, who passed away in 2014. He was an active member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mr. Seigler was a 1954 graduate from Clemson University; and he led a full life before retiring from the University of Georgia Extension Service as an agricultural engineer. He served on the Inaugural Georgia Cotton Team, as well as being active in the Sunbelt Expo. He also served in the United States Air Force, and he was a member of the South Carolina National Guard.
Mr. Seigler is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Kim Seigler of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Karmi and Arlen Fossen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one brother, Jim Seigler of Cowpens, South Carolina; two sisters, Carolyn Baughman of Morganton, Georgia and Janet Hunter of Concord, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Lucian Cobb and his wife Laura Windley, Kendall Fossen, Kurt “Chip” Seigler and his wife Skylar, and Alex Seigler and his wife Brittney; and one great grandson, Brodie Seigler.
