Richard L. Stapleford Sr., 63, of Chester, NH, died Saturday, August 19, 2006 in the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, MA. Mr. Stapleford was born in Everett, MA on September 25, 1942, a son of the late Gerald and Doris (Curren) Stapleford. He was a resident of Chester for the past 20 years, formerly living in Melrose, MA. He was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, Class of 1960. Mr. Stapleford served in the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of the VFW in Melrose, MA and the American Legion in Chester. He was the owner and operator of Bormann Brothers Riggers & Movers in Pepperell, MA. Mr. Stapleford was an avid lifelong hunter and fisherman, was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed gardening and wildlife.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn A. (Akins) Stapleford of Chester; two sons, Robin M. Lawrence of Nashua, NH, Richard L. Stapleford Jr. of Chester; two grandsons; two granddaughters; his brother, David N. Stapleford of Nashua; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step brother, Ralph Demopoulos.
Calling hours were on Wednesday, August 23rd from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 24th at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial was in the Great Hill Cemetery in Chester.
